Jordan Marcus Jergenson, 30, passed away Wednesday,  October 20, 2021.
Jordan’s life was celebrated Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Washburn-McReavy, Edina Chapel. Visitation was from  2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 4:00 p.m.
Jordan was born July 16, 1991, in Mankato, Minnesota to Marie Jon Jergenson. He and his mother moved to be near their family in their hometown of Benson, Minnesota where he was a vibrant, energetic, and loving little boy. They then moved to Brooklyn Center, Minnesota where Jordan attended his beloved Garden City Elementary School and Brooklyn Junior High. Jordan was involved in the Brooklyn Center community by participating in the Brooklyn Park Athletic Association football and basketball leagues as well as activities at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shingle Creek Ward. Jordan especially loved how all these activities came together at the highly contested church youth basketball league each year.
Jordan then on went to attend Park Center High School where he excelled academically and participated in a variety of activities. He particularly enjoyed his time on the Park Center Swim and Dive team but his true passion was being involved with the music program. Jordan was a percussionist in the concert band and jazz band, and he was a drumline leader with the highly decorated Park Center Marching Pirates. During this time, he also enjoyed his friends and established close and meaningful relationships that he maintained for the rest of his life.
Throughout his schooling, Jordan was a part of the Boy Scouts of America where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and became a member of the Order of the Arrow, an achievement that he was proud of.
Jordan went on to attend St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where he studied Political Science. Professionally, Jordan worked for the Minneapolis Park Board where he developed a passion for turf maintenance as a Greenskeeper. He also believed in the mission of the park board as a park system for all and he enjoyed feeling like his work was a part of something bigger than himself. Contributing to the community alongside his colleagues was also a highlight of the job. He also worked as a part of the distilling team at Norseman Distillery where he enjoyed the process of creating spirits and the company of the people he worked with.
Throughout his life, Jordan’s true passion was his involvement in the marching arts community as both a performer and an educator. He was a member of several organizations including Twin Cities Area Independent, River City Rhythm, the Minnesota Timberwolves PACKcussion, the Minnesota Vikings Skol Line, and Minnesota Brass. Jordan found a true sense of community within the Minnesota Brass family. He was proud to be a part of the cymbal line in the Minnesota Brass Drum Corps show, Valhalla, that placed first at the DCA world championships.
He was also the flower in the MBI Indoor show, Dandelion, a role that brought him immense pride and recognition within the community and was a true expression of his larger-than-life personality.
As an educator, Jordan left a profound legacy as a cymbal instructor within the Minnesota marching community and beyond. Over the years, he taught at several programs and left a lasting influence on countless individuals. Jordan loved his students and they loved him back in a way that was both sincere and special. His cymbal lines were continually made up of the most passionate and hardworking students and this was a direct result of his deep commitment and positive influence. Jordan made a lot of students better cymbal players but more importantly, he made them all better people.
Jordan was loved beyond measure. Jordan is survived by his mother, Marie Jon Jergenson; maternal grandparents, Donald and Judi Edwards; uncle, Wesley Edwards (Carolyn); godfather, Lance Piner (GaVae); godmother, Amanda Jacobson; father, Timothy Stotts; paternal grandmother, Ruth Stotts; and numerous siblings and family members on his fathers side. Jordan is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Ellie Mehr; their beloved cat, Pearl; and countless best friends whom Jordan cherished.
Jordan was preceded in death by his maternal great grandmother, Lillian Jergenson “Gigi”; uncle, Nicholas Edwards; and best friend, Matthew Roessler. Jordan was loved to the ends of the earth by many.
Blessed be his memory.

Cheryl was born February 6, 1953, the daughter of Harlan and Colleen (Berg) Vergin in Glenwood, Minnesota. She married David Dillman, MD on October 25, 1980 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Cheryl graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Master’s Degree in Anaerobic Microbiology. Cheryl was a strong supporter and member of P.E.O. as well as the Audubon Society. She could identify and name any bird you could find in Central Illinois!
Cheryl’s love for her family and friends was evident. Her smile and laughter could light up a room, and a hug from her could warm your heart and ease your worries. Her children and grandchildren knew she would always provide comfort and love.

She was a wonderful cook, and created a sense of warmth and love with each and every meal you shared with her.  A large bowl of ice cream was the best dessert in her eyes! Our lives are not the same without Cheryl, but she lives in our hearts, always a comfort and a source of love and light.

Richard P. Giese
August 3, 1939 • November 21, 2021

Richard Giese, 82, of rural Holloway, Minnesota died  Sunday morning, November 21, 2021, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson, and continue from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church-Fairfiield Township,  followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery.
Richard Paul Giese was born August 3, 1939, to Paul and Martha (Vollmer) Giese. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Moyer Township, Holloway. Richard grew up on a farm a few miles north of Holloway. He enjoyed working on the farm and it was his lifelong dream to be a farmer. Richard loved sports and was active in football, basketball and baseball for the Holloway Eagles. He attended Holloway Public Schools and graduated in 1957. He was active in the National Guard for five years. He married Marlys Ann Thielke  April 13, 1957. Marlys and Richard started their marriage living in Hancock where he began working for Otto Schafer as a carpenter. Their son Michael was born that same year. In August of 1960, the family moved to Minot, where he continued working in construction. They later moved to Grand Forks, where their daughter Michele was born, and then to Eagan, Minnesota. Richard still dreamed of farming and in 1974 his dreams of farming were fulfilled, when he and Marlys bought a farm out in Tara Township. They raised livestock for a while and then eventually farmed grain only. Their youngest child, Missy was born and raised on the farm.
Over the years, Richard enjoyed snowmobiling, church league softball, bowling and riding four wheelers. Richard was also very competitive. Some of his favorite hobbies were playing cards in Holloway, throwing bean bags at family gatherings, and pitching horseshoe. He and Marlys traveled across Minnesota for horseshoe tournaments and on adventures competing in world horseshoe tournaments all over the United States. Many of these trips were made so memorable as they were accompanied by Kathy and Ernie. In winter months, the two of them loved going down to Arizona to spend some time with friends. Rich loved sports and loved watching his children and grandchildren down on the fields and out on the courts. He was so proud of his family and didn’t want to miss a game.
Richard loved the farm. He worked  hard, he  had high expectations and had a generous heart. His passion for farming showed in his collection of toy and restored tractors. On his 82nd birthday, he and his family enjoyed a tractor parade. Richard could strike up a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed long drives, checking crops, snoozing in his chair and keeping his shop clean.
Richard passed away at North Memorial Hospital November 21, after injuries sustained in a car accident November 1. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlys of 64 years, his son: Michael, and his wife Bonnie (Tulsa, OK), daughters: Michele and Todd Sonnabend (Benson), and Missy and Jake Foslien (Elbow Lake):  11 grandchildren; Sean (Caitlynn) Giese, Levi Giese, Megan (Tom) Boutain, Jessica (Bryce) Jennings, Kesley (Kurt) Fahlen, Zack Sonnabend (Skylar), Halle, Mya, Josie, Jace, and Maesa Foslien; four great-grandchildren: Emma Sonnabend, McKinley Giese, Henry Boutain, and Brynn Jennings; sister-in-law Kathy (Ernie) Christianson; brothers-in-law: Marty (Dori) Thielke, and Randy (LuJean) Thielke and  several nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Martha Giese, his brother Kenneth and wife Eunice, his sister Dorla and her husband Iver Lien, and his mother and father-in-law Amanda and Martin Thielke Sr.
